These terms apply to work carried out by DigitalFix. They are written to be read rather than to be impenetrable — if anything here is unclear, ask us before booking and we will explain it plainly.
1. Services
We provide computer repair, custom PC building, website design, web hosting, managed IT support and networking services. Engaging us for any of these means you accept these terms.
2. Quotes and pricing
Diagnostics are free and carry no obligation. You receive a written quote before any chargeable work begins, and quotes are valid for 14 days.
If, once work is underway, we find the problem is different or larger than diagnosed, we stop and contact you with a revised quote. We do not carry out additional chargeable work without your approval, and you will never receive an invoice for work you did not agree to.
Prices published on this site are labour, in Canadian dollars. All prices are in Canadian dollars. We are a small supplier and do not charge HST. Parts are charged separately at cost.
3. Payment
Payment is due on completion for one-time work. Recurring services — hosting, managed IT, maintenance plans — are billed monthly in advance.
We accept cash, e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Larger projects normally run on 50% deposit and 50% on completion; talk to us if you need a different arrangement.
4. Warranty
All repair labour carries a 90-day warranty. If the same fault returns within 90 days as a result of our workmanship, we rectify it at no charge.
The warranty covers our labour. It does not cover new and unrelated faults, physical or liquid damage occurring after the repair, or software problems caused by changes made after the device left us. Parts we supply carry their own manufacturer warranty, and we hand over that documentation.
5. Data and backups
We back up your data before any repair that touches storage or the operating system, and we take reasonable care throughout. However, no repair shop can guarantee data on hardware that is already failing.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. We strongly recommend backing up anything irreplaceable before handing over any device. Except where loss results from our negligence, DigitalFix is not liable for data loss.
6. Devices left with us
We will contact you when work is complete, or when a quote has been declined. Devices left uncollected for more than 90 days after we notify you, and after at least two further attempts to reach you, may be disposed of or recycled to recover unpaid costs. We will always try to reach you first — this exists for genuinely abandoned equipment, not as a trap.
7. Websites and intellectual property
On full payment, the completed website and its content become your property. Domains and hosting accounts are registered in your name, and you receive all files and credentials.
We reserve the right to display completed work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to, which is fine and needs no explanation. Third-party components — themes, plugins, stock imagery, fonts — remain under their own licences, which we will identify on handover.
8. Hosting and managed services
Hosting and managed IT plans are month-to-month with no minimum term. Either party may cancel with 30 days' notice. On cancellation we provide a full export of your site and data at no charge.
We target 99.9% uptime on hosting. This is a target rather than a financially backed SLA for standard plans; enterprise agreements with contractual SLAs are available separately.
9. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about the fault and about any prior repair attempts.
- Confirm you own the device, or are authorised to have it serviced.
- Maintain your own backups of anything irreplaceable.
- Supply content and feedback promptly on web projects — timelines assume it.
10. Limitation of liability
Our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost business or lost data, except where Ontario or Canadian law does not permit that limitation.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other applicable consumer protection legislation.
11. Cancellation
You may cancel booked work before it begins at no charge. If work has started, you are liable for labour performed and any parts already ordered specifically for your job.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Ontario courts.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here on the date your work was agreed, and material changes will not be applied retroactively to work already booked.
